Over 42 corporate entities have registered to benefit from the Private Sector Commission of Guyana (PSC) and the Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute (CCGI) joint breakfast seminars on May 23, at the Marriot Hotel.

Global Expert on Good Governance, Alison Dillion Kibirige.

This was revealed by the PSC, during a press briefing with media operatives. The seminar which is the first of a series of joint corporate governance events in Guyana will be held under the theme “The Role of the Director in Good Governance, leading with a progressive perspective.

Global Expert on Good Governance, Alison Dillion Kibirige with over 25 years of experience, will be facilitating the key address at the breakfast seminar.  Kibirige said she hopes discussions on “the practical aspects of doing good governance in organisations will be deliberated on among the attendees.”

“Governance is a very practical subject, although it is often associated with laws and regulations…all organisations are doing governance and the laws and regulations help to guide them with things they can do better, and in better ways,” she explained.

Chief Executive Officer of CCGI, Denise Deonarine stressed the importance of corporate governance in commercial landscapes, specifically the role of the director in driving organisations to practice this (good corporate governance).

Vice President of the PSC, Desmond Sears noted the PSC’s commitment to addressing national issues and influencing policies to promote socio-economic growth and development in the country.

In April 2018, the PSC and CCGI signed a Memorandum of Understanding to execute a series of joint corporate governance events during the year.
