Guyana to host first edition of updated ICT Roadshow in July

major focus on e-Agriculture, persons with disabilities

Guyana will be hosting the first edition of the updated Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and e-Agriculture Roadshow from July 9 to 14 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC).

Minister of Public Telecommunications, Catherine Hughes today said the event will focus primarily on e-Agriculture, Persons with Disabilities and technology in poor, remote and Hinterland locations.

Main events will include an e-Agriculture forum, Youth Fair and an Open Day, as well as outreaches in East Berbice-Corentyne (Region Six) and Annai, Upper Takatu- Upper Essequibo (Region Nine) on July 11 and 14, respectively.

President David Granger will deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony and over 20 delegates from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries, as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands, Cayman Islands and St. Martin are expected here for the grand event.

Key policymakers and other relevant personnel from government and the private sector are expected to attend and make presentations.

Minister Hughes said the Road Show will highlight trending areas in the ICT sector and will demonstrate how the technology can be used to improve the livelihood of citizens.
