‘Lindeners must unite to move ahead’ – Min. Adams-Yearwood-Patterson

As Lindeners celebrated the nation’s 52nd  Independence Anniversary, they were reminded that there is much more is in store for the town.

Delivering the feature address at the Flag Raising Ceremony and Street Parade on Friday evening Minister within the Ministry of Communities, Valarie Adams-Patterson-Yearwood urged Lindeners to unite and cooperate with their government since this will enable the realisation of the “good life” that has been promised and is already on stream.

“Each person, each group has to make the choice to come together…if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together,” Minister Adams-Patterson-Yearwood said.

The Minister highlighted several of the achievements of the Coalition government in the region over the last three years. including training of all Linden teachers and the equipping of schools with computer laboratories; expansion of the hot-meal programme from 110 to 172 schools, benefiting 23,392 students; laptops distributed to teachers; LEN’s achievement creating jobs through creating entrepreneurial employment with business loans.

Lindeners will also see the imminent development of the Mackenzie and Wismar waterfront and the community of Bamia will also see the construction of a new Primary and Secondary School.

Hailing from Linden herself Minister Adams-Patterson-Yearwood shared her pride in the government’s achievements in her hometown and the country as a whole. “As a minister of this government, I am happy to say that we have achieved much… a good life is about removing inequalities and providing opportunities for every citizen to be the best he or she can be, this is what our government has set out to achieve.”

Patriotism was high as national colours laced the Republic Avenue venue by participants who sang, danced and dramatized cultural items, ushering in the official mid-night flag raising in front of the Regional Democratic Council.

Joining the Minister and the hundreds of Lindeners were Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources Simona Broomes, Regional Chairman Renis Morian, Mayor of Linden Waneka Arindell and several other regional and municipal officials.

Before the Golden Arrow Head was hoisted at midnight, Minister Broomes along with regional officials took the salute from Joint Services. She earlier inspected the guard of honour
