T&HD holds workshop for Security Officers

On Friday, April 6, 2018 the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Transport and Harbours Department conducted a workshop for 70 Security Officers.

Managing Director of T&HD Marcelene Merchant who attended the opening ceremony spoke with MOPI News and said, ” the workshop is to improve on our operations and to provide a better service to the traveling public.”

The workshop will be done in three sittings and will see Security officers from Parika, Wakenaam, Bartica, Supernaam, Leguan, Berbice and Georgetown attending.

The facilitator of the workshop was Senior Superintendent of Police Errol Watts. Watts told the Security Officers that  ” The Police alone is not responsible for the security of the nation but that the constitution of Guyana empowers every citizen to  work in collaboration with the police to protect the assets of the state and every individual of the country.”

The main focus of the training was on security awareness and customer service. It is hoped that at the end of the workshop T&HD Security Officers will portray a more professional and courteous approach to the traveling public.
