130 in Constituency 14 benefit from relief hampers

DPI, Guyana, Monday, May 25, 2020

Approximately 130 households in Constituency 14 (Ruimveldt Industrial Estate – South Ruimveldt Gardens) recently benefitted from relief hampers distributed by Councillor Denroy Tudor.

The hamper distribution drive was a collaborative effort among Tudor, Constituency Manager Brenda Williams and the Civil Defence Commission (CDC).

During an interview with DPI today, Tudor said persons financially displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic and other vulnerable groups in communities within the constituency, received the hampers which comprised basic foodstuff and other household items.

Councillor Tudor said the initiative will be an ongoing one as the council works towards ensuring that the residents receive the necessary support during this time.

“My fellow constituents, I empathise with each one of you. Rapidly, we have seen our regular community interactions being replaced by social distancing measures. This coupled with the financial displacement suffered by some of the most vulnerable within our constituency has greatly impacted our neighbourhood dynamics. We, as your constituency leaders remain steadfast in carrying out our mandate to serve all,” he assured.

Tudor also called on businesses and social groups within the constituency to come on board to strategically assist those residents in need.
