16 youths participating in auto body works repairs course

Sixteen persons have embarked on an autobody repair course, through a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the private sector.

The 24-week training, which started on September 2, is being held at the Professional Auto Body Work Establishment and Investment Agency located in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Participants will be taught how to develop the industry standards, safety, minor repairs as well as repair tasks relevant to a beginner technician. They will also learn about significant body or frame repair, vehicle frame damage, measurement, other related maintenance and refinishing, preparing, and painting a vehicle.

The training is further divided into nine modules covering topics which include collision repair; introduction and careers; shop safety and efficiency; vehicle construction technology; hand and power tool technology and welding. Participants will receive theoretical and practical training, and upon completion, they will be certified through the Ministryā€™s Board of Industrial Training.
