$26M school dormitory to be constructed at Waramadong

The approximately five hundred students attending the D.C. Caesar-Fox Secondary Complex, Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven), will benefit from the construction of a brand-new dormitory.  The $26.327Million residence will replace the building which the students are currently housed that is in need of immediate repairs.

This was announced by Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, during his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing, on July 05.

The contract has been awarded to J’s General Store and Construction Company. The dorm’s construction forms part of the Regional Administration’s 2018 capital projects.

In the 2018 National Budget, the government allocated approximately $99.2Million to the Region Seven administration for the delivery of education. Twenty-Nine-Million-dollars of the total amount will be spent for a modern primary school at Kamarang.

The amount also caters for rehabilitation of dormitory at Bartica and enclosure of the Karrau Creek Primary School.

Additionally, some 400 students of Paruima will benefit from a newly constructed primary school which was built at a cost of $20Million.
