Disclosing the remarkable achievement at a press briefing on Tuesday was Managing Director Dr. Richard Van-West Charles.

He noted that four wells were drilled in 2016, another six the following year, and nine in 2018.

“In 2019 28 wells were drilled. Never before in the history of this country has there been this type of experience in terms of drilling well to supply waters to our citizens. I would like to thank the members of staff for their hard work,” he said.

Dr. Van-West Charles said Guyana has shifted the development paradigm with 97 percent of the population having access to potable water in 2019 following the completion of three treatment plants. He added that development assistance totaled $1.6Billion this year under an IDB/EU operation.

The company is aiming to achieve 100 percent potable water access in the not too distant future with the acquisition of two rigs in 2020.
