─Wholesum Foods Bakery spotlighted at agri-tourism expo

Maintaining one’s health can be challenging at times; however, watching your carb intake does not mean having to banish bread. Wholesum Foods Bakery and Restaurant is making this a reality for many.

Occupying one of the booths at this year’s first-ever Agri-Tourism expo held the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), Pedro Mendonza, representative of the bakery and restaurant said that the idea to make healthy yet delicious baked goods that cater to the health-conscious as well as for diabetic patients  and for anyone looking to try something new.

“We make all of the breads with cane juice instead of using regular sugar…. all of us love bread yet some cannot eat it hence we created this so those who are restricted due to health reasons can do so now… we have three different kinds of breads, which is with chia seeds and pumpkin seeds for nutritive energy to these persons,” Mendonza, explained.

Situated at 350 East and New Market Streets, Cummingburg, the bakery provides artisan bread which ranges from gluten-free, diabetic, eight grain and garlic/parmesan, they also offer pastries catered for diabetics. Business hours are from 6:30 am to 6:00pm.

Medonza said that this expo has helped to increase their clientele as more persons are now aware of the bakery and its healthy products. “We hope that now more persons know about us, especially those who are diabetic they will come and sample our deliciously healthy food.”

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Information also met twenty-one-year-old Kelshine Griffith, a young agro-processor highlighted by this publication earlier this year for her Sweet Potato Cake Mix. Griffith said the expo has allowed her to promote her product to an even wider potential market.

“The attention I have received has been great…while persons were sceptical about my product but after tasting it, they could not believe that it is sweet potato as it tastes like sponge cake itself,” she added.
