DPI, GUYANA, Wednesday, April 25, 2018

“You the administrative professionals will find yourselves being highly sought-after because we will not allow or tolerate these companies entering Guyana, to bring in personnel when the skills already exist here. You will have to be their first port of call.”

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.

This was the assurance made by Minister of State Joseph Harmon today at the opening of a training seminar for administrative professionals at the Pegasus Hotel.

According to the Minister, consistent training will equip administrative professionals with the necessary tools to capitalise on the emerging sectors in the country.

The Coalition Government has taken several initiatives to create a highly skilled and professional public service. These include the establishment of the Bertram Collins College and increasing the number of local and overseas scholarships offered to public servants. Efforts are also being made to implement the recommendations of a Commission of Inquiry which was established to improve the delivery of public service.

Also addressing the 300 administrators participating was Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally.

“I expect all of you to walk away from this seminar with key knowledge that will enhance efficiency and service delivery in the daily operations of the office. This seminar is expected to boost your assertiveness and minimise interruptions so that you can maximize productivity,” Minister Ally said.

The exercise was organised by Zoywins Consultancy and Training Institute under the theme “Become a valued administrative professional.” The institute specializes in optimising employees’ potential, improving their performance and enhancing customer service.

The training seminar coincides with the observation of International Administrative Professionals Day, which focuses on the role of administrative professionals in all sectors of the modern economy worldwide.

Adminstrators gathered for the seminar.
