DPI, GUYANA, Tuesday, August 15, 2017

The Guyana Amazon Warriors today made dreams come true when they visited the St. John’s Bosco all Boys Orphanage at Ben Profitt Drive, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.

The visit was part of the team’s social responsibility and was sponsored by the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT).

The faces of the young boys lit up as they queued to meet some of their favourite cricketers,  they eagerly hugged and fist pounded the players.  The children relished the opportunity to display their skills with the ball and bat while the players enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the boys.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GTT Allison Parker, said that it was not usual for children to meet star players, hence giving the boys the experience. “I am sure that this is something that they will remember for the rest of their lives”. Parker also told reporters that the boys, along with their caregivers will be attending the game on Saturday.

Speaking on behalf of the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) fast bowler, Sohail Tanvir, noted that the team was delighted to be a part of such a heart-warming activity. He added that “it is a great organisation for the orphan kids and we wish each of them all the best”.

The Warriors take on the Jamaica Tallawahs on August 17 at 18:00 hours, the Trinbago Knight Riders on August 19 at 12:00hours, the Barbados Tridents on August 20 at 18:00hours and the St Lucia Stars on August 22 at 18:00 hours at the Providence Stadium.
