Annual Inter-Services Championship opens

On Sunday, His Excellency, President David Granger declared, the Annual Inter-Services Swimming and Athletics Championship open, at the Base Camp Ayanganna playfield.
In brief remarks, the Commander-in-Chief noted that while the championship will bring healthy rivalry, he hopes that it also promotes cooperation and collaboration between the Army, Police, Fire and Prison Services.
“I know that there is fierce rivalry among the uniformed services. This is good but, cooperation is as important as competition, and when we cooperate, the rising tides lift all boats, all of us benefit,” he stated.
The president told those gathered that successes within the force will translate positively for the rest of the country.
“I feel confident that each of the services, if each of you, at the personal level and the organisational level do well, the country as a whole will benefit.”
The Head of State urged the ranks to do their best both personally and professionally.
