Azerbaijan Ambassador to Guyana pays courtesy call on Minister of Education

(September 13, 2018)- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polukhov today paid a courtesy call on Minister of Education Nicolette Henry at her Brickdam Georgetown office.

During the exchange with Minister Henry, Ambassador Polukhov who is on his third visit to Guyana noted the importance of education and the human capital to the development of any country. It is against this backdrop that the Ambassador committed on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan to offering scholarships to Guyanese in a number of areas.

Additionally, the Azerbaijani Ambassador told Minister Henry that his country is also open to offering training in the area of Oil and Gas in light of Guyana’s new oil and gas sector and the country’s (Azerbaijan) expertise in this particular area.

The Republic of Azerbaijan has also indicated that there are monetary contributions that it is willing to offer in the furtherance of the education system in Guyana.

Minister of Education Hon Nicolette Henry expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Guyana (GoG) and the Ministry of Education for the offers proffered by Ambassador Polukhov. She said such cooperation augurs well for continued good relations between the two countries.
