More than 50 school children in the Seafield/Tempe Neighbourhood Democratic Council in Region 5, Mahaica-Berbice received back to school gifts of backpacks loaded with books, geometry sets and other school items from Minister of Finance, Hon. Winston Jordan during a visit to the area on Saturday.

During brief remarks, Minister Jordan said:

“I like seeing the joy and the smiles on the children’s faces when they get their gifts and back to school supplies. It makes me happy to see children’s faces light up as they are assisted with material that they really need.”

This visit comes on the heels of a similar visit made last week by the minister. At that engagement, Minister Jordan had distributed back to school supplies to children in the area. However, he observed that not all the children were able to collect a back pack. Minster Jordan then promised to return with more school supplies for the rest of the children – a promise realised today.

Chairperson of the NDC, Desney Mentore disclosed that additionally twenty adults received medical supplies donated by the Ministry of Health and two elderly residents received wheel chairs as well during the visit by the Minister.
