The Bartica Easter Regatta 2018 promises to be one filled with lots of fun and entertainment. This year’s regatta, which culminates on Easter Monday, April 2, 2018, will see new activities, encouraging more Barticans as well as others from throughout Guyana to attend, according to Event Coordinator Holbert Knights.

The former regional chairman exuberantly extended an open invitation to all citizens and even those in the diaspora, to “come and be a part of the fun frolic, starting March 11, 2018”. These events are compliments of the Bartica Development Business Association (BDBA).

The BDBA comprises most of the major Bartica business owners and this year they have teamed up to spearhead the town’s various developmental drives. This year’s Bartica Easter Regatta will be the first major project for the association.

Knights stated, “you can come to Aruwai Resort on the 11 March, as we unleash raw talent in the fashion industry in our first ever top model segment of the Miss Regatta pageant…On March 17, the police Gymkhana crew (will) thrill you with their skills on animal training and control. The police band will also be there to entertain our entire family.”

Also, an ‘Easter Talent Fest’ will be introduced where Barticans are encouraged to showcase their various talents whether in song, the playing of a musical instrument, dance, comedy or poetry. This will be hosted at the Bartica Palm Spring Hotel, on March 22.

On Good Friday, March 30, there will be a ‘Gospel Fest’ where locally and internationally recognized Gospel Artistes such as ‘Saiku’ and ‘Kester D’ will be performing at the West Indian Scheme Park.

The Highlight of the Regatta activities will be the hosting of the Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant 2018. “On March 18, our nine beautiful and talented delegates will entertain you at our carnival and sashing ceremony”, Knights added. On Monday, March 26, the delegates will be live on local television to present their platforms and answer questions in the intelligence segment.

“Pageant night will be the Saturday night, March 31. Sunday there will be a universal melodies performance including a few local artistes from the town. After that, we will be heading right back to the Bartica Community Centre Ground, where we will be entertaining you live with KI from Trinidad and the world-famous Lil’ Rick from Barbados and for our curtain event, the Bartica Easter regatta washdown”, the coordinator noted.
