CDC delivers more aid to Venezuelan migrants

DPI, Guyana, Sunday, March 10, 2019

The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) continues to render assistance to the Venezuela migrants crossing Guyana’s borders in an effort to escape the social and economic crisis in their homelands.

On Saturday, March 9, twelve migrant families in Kamwatta, Barima-Waini (Region 1) received much-needed hampers from the CDC.

Additional supplies are currently being mobilised to be delivered to communities in the region in the coming week as well as in Region Seven.

The National Multi Sectorial Coordinating Committee, through the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), has been providing relief to migrants in the border regions. Over the last few months, Guyana has seen an increase in the number of Venezuelans crossing the border to escape the political and socio-economic crisis in their homeland.
