On Sunday, the Prime Minister and his team visited the two communities and distributed approximately 400 presents to the children.

During brief remarks, PM Phillips stated that while COVID-19 has put a damper on the festivities, the Government wanted to put a smile on the faces of Guyana’s children.

“This is our way of saying Merry Christmas to you all and we will continue to work and develop Guyana in your best interest because our focus is on the people of Guyana and more importantly on the children of Guyana because they are our future.”

The Prime Minister also urged the residents of the communities to observe the COVID-19 measures during the festive season.

“Merry Christmas to you all and remember to continue to wear your masks, practice social distancing and sanitise because COVID-19 is still with us even as we celebrate,” he said.

The parents and children of the communities expressed thanks to the Prime Minister and his team for bringing Christmas cheer to their neighbourhoods.
