Cinderella City gets ICT Hub

DPI, GUYANA, Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Residents of Cinderella City in Region 10 will soon have free access to internet services following the completion of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Hub in the community.

An ICT hub that was opened in 2017 at Bamia, Linden.

Region 10 councillor Elise Benjamin Hall said this is the first of a number of projects identified for implementation in the area.

The establishment of the ICT Hub has been funded by the Cinderella City Council, the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) and a local community group.

“The council has a few finishing touches, before officially commissioning the hub, this includes the completion of the back entrance among other areas,” Hall explained.

She encouraged residents and business owners of Cinderella City to play a more active role in the ICT Hub which will benefit at least 10,000 persons within the constituency and neighbouring communities.

Some of the other communities in Region 10 to benefit within the next two months from the setting up of ICT Hubs  are Kwakwani, Ituni, Coomacka Mines and Rivers View.

To date, approximately 110 ICT Hubs have been established across Guyana by the Ministry of Public Telecommunications. These allow persons to access the internet and government services online.
