COVID-19 cases climb to 370

10 more persons test positive

The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Guyana has moved to 370. This comes as the Ministry of Public Health has reported that 10 more persons have tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, another person has recovered from the virus taking that total to 181. Deaths remain at 20.

Currently, there are 169 active cases in institutional isolation at various facilities across Guyana; 33 persons in institutional quarantine and four patients housed in the COVID-19 ICU.

To date, 4,273 persons have been tested for the virus with 3,903 yielding negative results.

Globally, the WHO is reporting that as of July 26, positive cases stand at 15,785,641 with 640,016 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 8,385,810 with a total of 332,589 deaths.

Citizens are reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.
