Czech Ambassador accredited -President hopeful tourism cooperation can be developed

Non-resident Czech Republic Ambassador to Guyana, Jiri Havlik was accredited today by President Donald Ramotar, at the Office of the President.

In brief remarks, the president said that he was honoured to receive the ambassador and extended warm greetings to that country’s President Milos Zeman.

He recalled that he still has fond memories of Prague, where he lived, studied and worked for a number of years, describing it as one of the most beautiful cities in the world with its unique architecture.

He noted that despite the distance, there was much that both countries could learn from each other given that the Czech Republic has a developed economy, highly skilled work force and strong in the areas of art and culture, and Guyana has huge room for cooperation.

Ambassador Havlik, who is fluent in four languages, said that his country has a lot to offer in the fields of technology, business, trade, culture and tourism, noting that, “It is a developing economy which has good technology to offer”. The ambassador will be stationed in Brazil.

The Czech Republic is also known as Czechia, and is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Germany to the west, Austria to the south, Slovakia to the east and Poland to the north. Its capital and largest city, with 1.3 million inhabitants, is Prague.
