Drivers now have 5 years to renew license

DPI, Guyana, Thursday, January 3, 2019

Drivers of motor vehicles are now afforded the luxury of renewing their licenses at five-year intervals instead of the previously obtained three years.

This new provision is part of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Amendment Bill which was passed in the National Assembly. The bill was read by Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan.

According to the minister, this new provision is among the measures in Budget 2019 aimed at making life easier for Guyanese in keeping with government’s promise of a good life for all.

With the Opposition Members of Parliament being absent from today’s sitting, Minister Ramjattan noted that the bill was considered and passed unanimously in the committee.
