ExxonMobil forging ties at Linden Expo

DPI, GUYANA, Wednesday, May 2, 2018

Region 10 residents and visitors alike were given the opportunity to learn more about the prospects in the oil and gas sector. This followed the US Oil giant, ExxonMobil’s presence at the Linden Exposition and Trade Fair 2018, over the weekend.

ExxonMobil Public & Government Affairs Advisor, Kimberly Brasington.

“We have a booth that displays what ExxonMobil is doing offshore Guyana, and we’re talking about what the oil and gas industry is, what an oil rig look likes, how many oil wells we have drilled, and we are here to answer a lot of people’s questions about what the industry is and what it is ExxonMobil is doing here,” ExxonMobil Public & Government Affairs Advisor, Kimberly Brasington explained to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

The ExxonMobil booth also provided businesses entities and individuals with the necessary information on the Centre for Local Business Development (CLBD). The centre provides a space for local firms to learn about opportunities in the oil and gas sector, strengthen their competitiveness, and prepare to supply the oil and gas sector with various services.

“Half of the booths were actually dedicated to how businesses, in particular, can become involved in the industry. It’s brand new, it’s emerging; two years ago, we weren’t even here and so there’s a lot of ways to get involved. You can be involved as a business if you want to get a contract and be part of the supply chain supporting the industry, you can register your business with the Centre for Local Business Development, and as an individual,” Brasington said.

Representatives from ExxonMobil were also in Linden on April 25, at the Linden Technical Institute engaging students on vocational and training programmes and explaining their selection procedure for trained students who may interested in joining their workforce.
