Govt announces plans to begin works on several hinterland roads and culverts
– awaiting end of extended rainy season to commence works
The Government of Guyana, through the ministries of Public Infrastructure and Natural Resources, has mobilised to commence works on various roads throughout the hinterland and is awaiting the end of the ongoing extended rainy season.
The projects are:
- Extension of roads from 4 Miles to Kwebana – Region 1
- Rehabilitation of roads in Santa Rosa and Islands – Region 1
- Road improvement of the Itaballi to Puruni – Region 7
- Rehabilitation of road from Mango Landing to Mahdia – Region 8
- Construction of new bridge culvert at Bina Hill – Region 9
- Construction of new bridge culvert at Surama Junction – Region 9
- Road improvement of Annai to Lethem Road – Region 9
- Rehabilitation of road from Mabura to Mango Landing – Region 10
- Rehabilitation of 3 bridges and 1 year maintenance of Sherima to Rockstone – Region 10
- Road improvement and rehabilitation for Kurupukari Landing to Mabura and 1 year maintenance – Region 10
Additional road rehabilitation and improvement and other projects have been earmarked and will be announced at a later date.
The Government understands the challenges and difficulties of citizens who have to use these roads and bridges during this period and thanks citizens for their patience and understanding in this regard. Government assures the citizens that every effort is being made to ensure that the requisite works are completed in the shortest possible time.
