DPI, Guyana, Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan will tomorrow, October 17, seek approval from the National Assembly for a supplemental of $7,584,274,488 to make outstanding severance payments to sugar workers.

Minister Jordan says once approved, sugar workers will be paid the balances. He is urging that the workers do not fall prey to or be fooled by cheap political propaganda.

The request for the supplemental forms part of the agenda for the 97th Sitting of the National Assembly.

Sittings resume tomorrow, following a period of recess.

President David Granger is also expected to address the Parliament on the said day.

Sittings will be held in the Parliament Chamber, Public Buildings and can be viewed via the live broadcast on the Parliament website and also on the Department of Public Information’s social media page.
