Gov’t/ CPL ink deal for Guyana Leg of CPL to be hosted at Providence Stadium

On Thursday in the company of Hon. Minister Nicolette Henry, Permanent Secretary Melissa Tucker inked (signed) the stadium agreement between the Ministry of Education, Department of Sport and CPL OPCO (Guyana) on behalf of CPL Limited for Guyana to host the Guyana leg of the much touted CPL.

The agreement was signed in the Boardroom of the Ministry of Education Department of Culture, Main Street by Omar Khan, Team operations manager of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Hon. Minister Nicholette Henry receives the signed Agreement from CPL Team Operations Manager, Mr Omar Khan that ensures that CPL has a Venue for the Guyana leg as Permanent Secretary Melissa Tucker and Mr Anthony Xavier the General Manager of the Guyana National Stadium share in the occasion.

After the signing of the stadium agreement between the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise and the Government of Guyana as the stadium owner for Guyana to host the 2017 CPL games said, “It’s a significant part of the process and an opportunity for Guyanese to once more enjoy world-class international cricket and entertainment at the National Stadium.”

Khan noted too that Guyanese have been tremendous supporters of the CPL and the Guyana Amazon Warriors and we expect that support to continue. We want to see the children and the parents come out to support as a family.”

The Amazon Warriors will take on the Jamaica Tallawahs on August 17, followed by them taking on the Trinbago Knight Riders on Saturday 19 August.

The following day they battle the Barbados Tridents. The home leg wraps up on Tuesday 22 against St Lucia stars.

Minister Henry at the agreement signing dubbed it an honour on the Government’s behalf to partner once again to host the CPL.

Also present at the agreement signing was Mr Anthony Xavier the General Manager of the Guyana National Stadium.
