Govt outreach for Regions 2 & 7 in May – Min. Ally announces

― wraps up outreach in Reg. 10

DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally, this evening during a community meeting at the New Silver City Secondary School, Linden, Region 10, announced that the ‘Government comes to you’ outreach will be taken to Regions 2 and 7 in May.

As the outreach wrapped up in Region 10, Minister Ally told residents “taking our services, as a government to the people does not end here.”

The Coalition Government says this is part of its many efforts to ensure that it meets with the people at the grass root level, interacting with them directly to ensure the promise of the ‘good life’ for all is fulfilled.

Thus far, a total of seven outreaches have been held in Regions 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and today, Region 10.

The first was held in February in Region 9, Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo, followed by Region 4, Demerara-Mahaica, where thousands of residents turned up at the Square of the Revolution in Georgetown.

From as early as 06:00hrs, residents from various parts of East Berbice-Corentyne, (Region 6) began arriving at the University of Guyana Campus, in Tain Berbice to have their matters addressed, when the outreach was taken there on April 16.

That region was followed one week later by Region 5 on April 25 in Fort Wellington at the Regional Democratic Council’s (RDC) compound. That region also had a massive turnout with residents expressing their satisfaction after having their issues resolved.

The most recent took place in Region 3, on Sunday last, at the National Track and Field Centre in Edinburgh, where hundreds turned out and had their issues addressed on the spot.
