Govt will spare no expense to empower youths – Min. Harmon

DPI, Guyana, Sunday, October 28, 2018

“The government will always give opportunities to youths who want to develop themselves and their communities.” This was the message delivered by the Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, to residents of Arakaka at a community outreach on October 27.

Minister of State, Hon. Joseph Harmon shares a photo op with a young resident of Arakaka Village.

The Minister noted the need for more youths to make meaningful contributions to their communities and said, Arakaka in Region One, Barima Waini, is no exception. He reminded of the President’s focus to eliminate the gaps between the coast and hinterland and cited the move to have vital services available across the country. These facilities, he noted, “will deliver the same quality of services, regardless of which community they serve.”

Minister Harmon urged councillors and community leaders to be proactive and move to access to programmes such as the Youth Business Grants and loans available at the Small Business Bureau. These he explained are just a few of the facilities available to assist youths to become entrepreneurs within their respective communities.

The minister’s visit to the community was part of an effort to educate residents about the importance of Local Government Elections and the need to vote on November 12.
