GPF sees decrease in serious crimes for first half of 2018
DPI, GUYANA, Monday, June 11, 2018
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has reported a decrease in serious crimes at the end of May this year, compared to the same period last year.
The comparative figures of serious crimes for ‘A-G’ divisions January 1 to May 31st, 2017/2018, shows that murder has seen a 23 percent decrease with some 36 committed so far for the period. By the end of May 2017, the country had seen 47 murders committed. There has been a 28 percent decrease in robbery under arms with the use of instruments other than firearm. Robbery with violence saw a 15 percent decrease.
Compared last year with 67 counts, 57 were committed this year. There has also been a four percent decrease in break and enter, and larceny.
The comparative figures of murders committed for the period January 1 to May 31st for A and B Divisions saw an overall 23 percent decrease.
