As the Bartica Town Council continues to make positive strides towards the development of the town, Acting Mayor and Deputy, Nageswari Lochandprashad said the enhancement of the area which spans from Sixth to the Seventh Avenues, alongside the town’s boulevard, is one of the transformations that forms part of the Bartica Golden Beach Development Project.

preserve nature in promoting healthy social activities the Constituency Representative of Constituency Number Four, Councillor Lloyd Garraway has taken it upon himself to develop the Sixth to Seventh Avenue beachfront”

Lochandprashad said Garraway was successful in clearing and cleaning the area and develop it to a place of pristine beauty via donations from private sector and NGOS. Benches and bins were installed, trees pruned and painted and a filling of sand was added.

“Families can be seen picnicking, barbecuing or enjoying a good old “bushcook” especially on weekends. Even our elderly folks are making good use of the new development as the enjoy the scenery and the free air to the sounds of the mighty Essequibo River,” the Acting Mayor said.

Meanwhile, Lochandprashad thanked several of the constituents within the town council for their delivery on projects. She explained that through observation, most of the projects undertaken by the constituencies were not assigned but done on the constituent’s initiative, similarly to Councillor Garraway.

During the recent Bartica Easter Regatta, President David Granger officially unveiled the plaque that marked the opening of the Golden Beach Development Project, with the highlight being the boulevard. When complete the project will see five mini marts, a beautiful walkway that will be powered by PV (Photovoltaic) panels.
