Guyana records 300 COVID-19 cases

—3 new cases, 1 recovery recorded

Today, Guyana recorded 300 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Ministry of Public Health is reporting that three more persons have tested positive after 78 tests were conducted within the last 24hours. The Ministry is also reporting one more recovery taking that total to 155. Deaths remain at 17.

There are currently 128 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana and 20 persons in institutional quarantine. The COVID-19 ICU is currently housing five patients.

To date, 3,330 tests have been conducted with 3,030 yielding negative results.

Citizens are reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

The WHO is reporting that as of July 13, globally positive cases stand at 12, 768,307 with 566,654 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 6,669,879 with a total of 286,577 deaths.
