Guyana to attend CFATF council of ministers meeting

DPI, GUYANA, Friday, August 4, 2017

The Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams SC, will represent Guyana at the ninth meeting of the council of the ministers of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF).

The meeting to be held in Miami, USA in September will see the implementation of the operational work plan and budget for 2018, as well as approval of important aspects of the CFATF operations and management, Minister of State Joseph Harmon said.

Guyana was officially removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) watch list for the combating of money laundering, financing of terrorism and proliferation of mass destruction in October 2016.

The successful exit from the FATF/ICRG (International Country Risk Guide) process paved the way for Guyana’s removal from the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) monitoring process in November 2016. CFTAF is the regional monitoring body of FATF.
