Guyana’s COVID-19 remains at 63

—5 persons in ICU

The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Guyana remains at 63 as of April 18, 2020.

Of these 63 cases Guyana has recorded six deaths and nine recoveries.

To date, a total of 305 persons have been tested with 242 of those testing negative.

Fourteen persons are in institutional quarantine while the 48 others in isolation.  Five persons are housed in the COVID-19 ICU at GPHC.

Globally, WHO has recorded 2,074,529 confirmed cases with 139,378 deaths. While in the Region of the Americas there are 743,607 confirmed cases with 33,028 deaths.

Calls to the COVID-19 hotline total 2,134.

Citizens are asked to always wear a facemask when leaving their homes and to practice social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus diseases.
