In 2015, Roberts decided to share the journey of her childhood with the world, especially young children who are facing challenges of low self-esteem through her writing. Her first book was launched in January 2015, under the title, “Look at you, you are beautiful.”

In an interview with DPI, the author related that her message for children plays an important role in helping children build self-confidence and self-esteem.

“As a child growing up in Bartica, I was very insecure and I thought that I am not the only person going through such a phase. I think many children feel the same insecurities and I want to help and reassure them that everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way,” she said.

Roberts who is also a wellness therapist believes that in today’s society, young people and children are bombarded daily with social media images that portray what she describes as a “superficial lifestyle.”

Therefore, Roberts devoted herself over the past five years to disseminating positive information into the world to help children to understand their self-worth.

“Guyanese children can get access to my books at the National Library and it can also be purchased on Amazon. There are plans in the pipelines to get the books on the shelves of local bookstores and a collaboration with the Ministry of Education, ensuring the books are in the school system,” she said.

During a recent visit in February of this year, Roberts visited several schools in Bartica, and where she donated a number of books and held discussions with the students.

Roberts lives with her husband and son outside Gothenburg, Sweden.
