GUYOIL supports 16 days of activism to eliminate violence against women and girls

Through a collaboration with the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, the Guyana Oil Company Limited (GUYOIL) bought five hundred face masks for distribution to its members of staff.  The purchase was made in support of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s 16 Days of Activism to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls under the theme:” Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect.”

GUYOIL’s General Manager (GM), Mr. Trevor Bassoo noted that it is paramount for the company, especially as a leading state-owned entity, to support this initiative. Sixty per cent of GUYOIL’s employees are women, women who are valued and respected throughout the company. Mr. Bassoo further stated that we must join in sounding the alarm and supporting the programmes that address issues affecting the nation and its people. The GM stated that GUYOIL’s team has zero-tolerance for any form of gender-based violence and thought it was necessary to reiterate their stance by supporting this initiative.

The Masks are being distributed throughout the company to all employees. GUYOIL has been giving unwavering support to various programmes across the country through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.
