GYSBI marks 2nd anniversary

DPI, Guyana, Friday, September 13, 2019

The Guyana Shore Base Incorporated (GYSBI) has been supporting offshore operations since its establishment.

On Thursday evening, the company celebrated its second year of operations during a cocktail reception at the Guyana Marriott Hotel. Director of Muneshwers Limited, Robin Muneshwer stated that the establishment of the facility is an “object lesson for Guyanese to know our strengthens and who to team up with.”

He also noted that “it is a lesson for foreign companies coming to work in Guyana to team up with relevant, reputable local companies to develop networks and alliances.”

Following the discovery of oil in commercial quantities by ExxonMobil in 2015, four companies – Muneshwers Limited, Pacific Rim Constructors, LED Offshore, and TOTALTEC Oilfield Services came together and formed GYBSI. GYSBI won the ExxonMobil shore base services tender early in 2017.

Within 18 months, GYSBI was providing ExxonMobil with infrastructure, including secure open and covered storage, berthing for two supply vessels, operational personnel and loading/unloading logistics support. Rig contractors and major service companies are now making use of the base.

Munsheswar made it a point to note that growth within the company has been exponential. The company’s staff comprises of 95% Guyanese, some of whom are trained in the oil and gas field. It was disclosed that the company intends to expand its operation to accommodate the impending oil boom post-2020.

During brief remarks, President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Rod Henson congratulated the company on their anniversary and noted that Exxon considers “GYSBI to be one of its strongest and most critical partners.”

The event was attended by First Lady, Her Excellency Sandra Granger, government minister, members of the diplomatic corps and special invitees.
