Health checks for parliamentary staff

DPI, Guyana, Friday, 03 August, 2018

The staff of the Parliament Office today benefited from a health outreach hosted by the Ministry of Public Health at Parliament compound.

According to Parliamentary Public Relations Officer, Yannick December, the exercise is an important one that helps to ensure the well-being of members of staff which in turn will ensure an effective delivery of services.

“We realise the importance of health. As public servants, we would not be able to represent the people of Guyana if we are not in good health ourselves”, December explained.

Among the services offered were dental checkups, blood donation, eye testing, blood testing, food and nutrition counselling, among others.

This medical fair forms part of the Public Health Ministry’s focus to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare. Also, it is part of the ministry’s strategy to advertise and promote health services on all fronts by collaborating with ministries, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and private institutions to host health fairs countrywide.
