Herstelling, Eccles residents encouraging others to get Covid vaccine

Residents in the communities of Herstelling and Eccles, East Bank Demerara who have taken their COVID-19 vaccines are encouraging others to follow suit.

Mr. Imtaz Baksh (62) – “It’s very important. I think everybody should do this here. I mean, you getting it now. We waited a long time for it and now that it come, I feel everybody should come and have it.”
Mr. Raymond Sukdeo – “I am taking the vaccine because I feel safe taking it because I interact with a lot of people and I am scared of contracting the COVID.”
Mr. Rajendra Nauth: “To avoid having COVID, the best thing to do is take the vaccine…it’s very good for your body. I want everybody to come out and take the vaccine so the COVID could be less in the country.”

Guyana has received 103,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the Governments of Barbados, China and India and is procuring another 200,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia.
