Horace James eulogized as a professional

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL), Horace Heyman James was today eulogised as a professional person who was always keen to accomplish what he set his mind to. James lost his battle to cancer on January 30, 2019, in his Linden, Region 10 home.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan, and the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), Managing Director, Dr. Richard Van West-Charles were among government officials present at the viewing and service at the Merriman’s Funeral Home today.

James, of Richmond Hill, Linden and D’urban Backlands served in the position of Head of Linmine Secretariat for 16 years and the Linden Electricity Incorporated. He also served as a Director of the Linden Technical Institute, Kwakwani Utilities Incorporated, Director of the Linden Enterprise Network (LEN), Linden Museum and Linden Legal Aid.

James was the son of the late Eutie and Leila James of D’urban Backlands and Mahaicony. He was the Husband of Ann Thompson-James and the father of Hillheir Emptage and Tyrone Peters.

There will be further viewing and tributes given in Linden today, followed by a service and tribute on Mahaicony on Sunday where he will be buried at the family cemetery.
