─Mayor Narine and Councilor Tudor inspect work done

DPI, Guyana, Monday July 27, 2020

Within the past few weeks, the Mayor and City Council has cleaned, cleared and upgraded drains in Constituency 14, Roxanne Burnham Gardens. More recently they collaborated with the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) to clear secondary drains in the community.

Where there were once clogged and overflowing drains, there are now clear flowing fixtures.

“In our interactions with residents of this constituency we realise that persons are enthusiastic about some of the works that have been happening within the area” Councillor Denroy Tudor told DPI.

Tudor said along with the recent drainage upgrades, Constituency 14 has also seen the installation of street lights a few months back and next on the list is the clearing of the alleyways.

On Sunday, Tudor conducted a walk-through the community accompanied by the Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit Ubraj Narine, who noted that he was there to listen to the concerns of residents.

“It is our duty to come and ensure that the residents in Roxanne Burnham Gardens are doing well. So far, we received some reports concerning the alleyways, therefore we are addressing that now, but so far so good,” he noted.

Mayor Narine was adamant that the council must ensure its residents are comfortable and proper service.
