Improved water quality for Region Two

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has pledged to remedy the high iron content in the water being provided to communities on the Essequibo Coast.

Chief Executive Officer of the GWI, Mr. Shaik Baksh, made this announcement today during a presidential outreach in Anna Regina, Essequibo, Region Two.

Mr. Baksh assured the residents that they could look forward to improved water quality as there are plans to enhance this service in the Pomeroon in 2021. The Government is working to provide Guyanese, regardless of geography, with access to potable water.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Service, Hon. Sonia Parag said over 1,000 applications for scholarships were received from Region Two.

She assured residents that her Ministry is working towards achieving the Government’s mandate of providing Guyanese with equal tertiary education opportunities. With increased access to tertiary education, she said, by 2024, more youths would be empowered to serve the nation.

The PPP/C Administration has pledged to provide 20,000 scholarships within this term of the current Government.
