Three of the delegates at the Inaugural National Youth Conference were today awarded scholarships to attend the Cacique Accounting College. The lucky youths are Atesha Hiles, Sahrira Roberts and Shazam Somwar.

The scholarships were awarded by Cacique Incorporated through a random selection process. Atesha Hiles, speaking to the Department of Public Information (DPI), said that she was very excited to have received the scholarship.

“I am a final year student currently pursuing a degree in International Relations at the University of Guyana, and this would assist me in pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in international finance later on so that I can acquire that dream job.”

Chief Executive Officer of Cacique Incorporated, Fazil Bacchus said that he was delighted to come on board and be a part of a process aimed at empowering young people. Bacchus said that the scholarships will assist the students with managing not only with finance but all sectors of life.

“The qualifications that these young people have gained in the foundation in accountancy and a chartered association of technicians qualifications. This qualification is a technical qualification that will help you to work to manage not only your finances but all aspects of cost and all aspects of financial accounting within all sectors, not only in the finance sector” Bacchus stated.

Tomorrow, another set of participants will be awarded scholarships, this time from Global Technology Inc. The Inaugural National Youth Conference commenced today at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) and will run for two days under the theme “Youth Perspective for Empowerment and Development for a Better Guyana.”
