J.C Chandisingh Secondary honors 100+ students

The J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School has a history of producing doctors, lawyers, politicians among many other noteworthy professionals. On Wednesday, a graduation ceremony was held for the most recent batch of students who would have completed the recent Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).

Randy Mangroo and Chelsie Ferreira are just two of the 100 graduates who are highly motivated to pursue further studies

17-year-old, Mangroo intends to one day become a lawyer to defend the helpless but first, he plans to enter the teaching profession, which is also another career goal.

“I had applied to be a teacher, and that will be my side career, and I will be going to the University of Guyana next year. My secondary education years were good, and I suggest that youths, like myself, believe in themselves and strive for the best,” an enthusiastic Mangroo stated.

Chelsie Ferreira, who gained ten subjects, relayed there were some initial challenges, but with the support of her family and friends, she found a balanced approached to her studies excelled at her exams.

“I am overjoyed, my parents are proud, and my next step is to apply to the University of Guyana to study Business Management. I have a passion to create ideas that will grow into something big,” Ferreira noted.

In her remarks, Regional Education Officer for Region 6, Celeste Bristol-La Rose, told the graduates that as the economic landscape changes, there are more ways for them to contribute to Guyana’s development.

“There are many opportunities for you out there, for you to contribute to the economic, cultural and social development of this beautiful world. Things have become more complex, more competitive. Thus, expectations has been set very high as science and technology are utilised, more and more society is transformed,” she said.

Guest Speaker, Minister of Public Telecommunications, Hon. Catherine Hughes noted that the path forward for the graduates is noticeably better, and their approach will determine their accomplishments.

“You, graduates, will be strong and self-assured because today’s Guyana has made you different in a really good way – to whom much is given, much is expected. The question is what will you do with all that you have been given… Your attitude most certainly determines your altitude. Your character will determine how many good persons extend a hand to guide you along the way, and there is no shortcut to hard work and success the Minister advised.
