Labour Minister meets with GTT and GP&TWU

Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton this morning met with the representatives of the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company Limited (GTT) and the Guyana Postal and Telecommunications Workers Union (GP&TWU) to address an ongoing matter.

This engagement follows an initial meeting between the Minister and the GP&TWU last Monday.

Today’s meeting was held to begin discussions towards resolving the matter of GTT’s intention to “wind up” the pension scheme effective 1 May 2020.

At the previous meeting, GP&TWU President Harold Shepherd had explained that the union had requested documentation pertaining to the issue however failure on company’s part saw the union approaching the Ministry of Labour for redress.

The GP&TWU represents approximately 200 workers at GTT.
