Law Reform Commission in final stage of readiness – AG

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams, SC, has informed the National Assembly that the Law Reform Commission is in the final stage of readiness.

The Attorney General, through a written response circulated today in the National Assembly, said persons have been interviewed for the position of Commissioners.

These interviews took place on June 19 and 20.

The AG clarified that remuneration for the Commissioners is not yet approved.

The building, which houses the Commission, is located at 59 Robb Street, Bourda, Georgetown and is ready for occupation by the staff. The building is being rented for $850,000 monthly and the rental agreement has been provided to the National Assembly.

Thus far, a Legal Officer, two Legal Clerks, three Typists, two Office Assistants, a Cleaner and Driver have been appointed.

Salaries for the above staff range from $75,000 to $700, 000.
