Lord Provost of Aberdeen calls on Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Press Release – Friday, March 15, 2019

Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Carl B. Greenidge was today called on by Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Mr. Barney Crockett, accompanied by British High Commissioner to Guyana, His Excellency Greg Quinn, Aberdeen City Council Business and Skills Manager, Mr. Matthew Lockley, and Managing Director of ABIS Energy, Mr. Francis Kiernan.

The meeting followed the twinning ceremony of the cities of Aberdeen, Scotland and Georgetown, Guyana held earlier today at City Hall.

Guyana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Frederick Hamley Case, noted that “The twinning has begun. Aberdeen has 50 years’ experience in oil and gas. They have universities that are recognized globally, which specialize in oil and gas education at all levels.”

Further, in their efforts to develop partnerships and associations with educational institutions in Guyana, the University of Aberdeen had already started that process with the University of Guyana.

A recent trade mission from Guyana to Aberdeen explored opportunities in joint ventures in the oil and gas industry.
