Major improvements for Reg. 3 in 2019 – REO

– Deadline for submission – Tuesday 29 January 2019 at 09:30hrs.

– Bids must be submitted in a plain sealed envelope bearing no identification of the Bidder.

The Regional Administration of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara is inviting eligible bidders to submit sealed bids to the Chairman of the Regional Procurement and Tender Administration Board, for the undertaking of works and supplies in the region.

Under the field of Capital Expenditure – Agricultural Development, the region is inviting eligible bidders to bid for the Construction of revetment at Phoenix Sluice, Leguan at an engineer’s estimate of $14M, construction of revetment to control structure at Beribisaballi at an engineer’s estimate of $14M, construction of Ramp and Landing at Salem EBE – engineer’s estimate of  $12M and the rehabilitation of Enterprise Sluice – Leguan at an engineer’s estimate of  $14M.

Under the caption, “Bridges” contractors are asked to bid for the Construction of Heavy Duty RC Bridges at Edinburg Access Road, Retreat Street – Parika and Hague Backdam and the engineer’s estimates are $12M, $12M and $10M respectively.

According to the Regional Executive Officer (REO), Jennifer Ferreira Dougall, the works will be executed in a timely manner. “I have already indicated to my engineering department that we must execute these works in a timely manner and ensure we get value for our money. These projects come as a result of the approved budget for 2019 and were birthed out of consultations with residents of various communities in 2018 when the budget was formulated.”

As it relates to road rehabilitation, the region is advertising for the rehabilitation of the Leonora Diagnostics and Treatment Center Access Road and Jai Dam – Tuschen North, EBE at an estimated cost of $12M each. The region also wants to purchase a double cab 4X4 Pick up at an estimated cost of $7.5M. A fence and bridge are to be constructed along with major rehabilitation works at La Grange Nismes Co-op Building, at an engineer’s estimate of $6M.

Under furniture and equipment for the Education Delivery Programme, eligible bidders are encouraged to submit bids for the Supply and Delivery of Desk Top Computers, Filing Cabinets, Fire Extinguishers, Jolly Phonics Kits, Type A, B and C desks and benches, Teachers Chairs and Nursery Sets.

Under current expenditure for the Agricultural Programme, the region is advertising for the Excavation of Hogg Island Facade and Parika Main Drain at an estimated cost of $14M each.

For the maintenance of other infrastructure, bidders are asked to bid for the Weeding and Cleaning of the Education Office Compound, the compound of the special needs school, La Harmony Primary School and Schoonord Nursery School at the estimated cost of $750,000 each.

Under the Health Programme, a series of health facilities are slated to undergo major infrastructural improvements including Wakenaam Hospital, Leonora Hospital, Health Centres and Posts, West Demerara Regional Hospital, among others.

Meanwhile, schools such as Vergenoegen Secondary School, Uitvlugt Nursery, Den Amstel Nursery, Parafaite Harmony Primary, La Retraite Primary, Patentia Secondary, Leonora Secondary, Crane Primary, Versailles Nursery among others, will see major works done.

REO Dougall said that Interested bidders may inspect the bidding document (s) and obtain further information from the Engineer’s Department. She further advised that Bid Documents can be uplifted from the Region Office upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $3,000 each. She has also advised that Bid Documents must be submitted in a plain sealed envelope bearing no identification of the Bidder and clearly marked on the top left-hand corner, “Tender for [name of bidder]. She further indicated that the bids should be addressed to the Chairman of the Regional Procurement and Tender Administration Board and deposited in the tender box no later than Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 09:30hrs. She warned that electronic bids will not be permitted, and late bids will be rejected.

All bids are to be accompanied by valid GRA and NIS compliances. The final decision of award of contracts lies with the Tender Board.

Contractors are advised to take note and submit their documents early.
