DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Mayor of Georgetown, His Worship Pandit Ubraj Narine was up and about last weekend, visiting residents and officiating at many events around the City. “This is the duty of a major; you can’t be sitting down instead you always have to try to fulfil the needs of the residents within your city or town,” he emphasised while making his rounds.

Focusing mainly on Sunday’s (December 1) activities, Pandit Narine was in the Durban Backlands area where he participated in the unveiling of several street markers. The historic mid-morning event was graced with the presence of Commissioner of the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission, Trevor Benn, Councillors of the Mayor and City Council and residents of the respective communities.

Following the unveiling event in Georgetown, Mayor Narine travelled to the Tuschen Rahda Mandir in Region 3, where the Guyana Pandit Council hosted a massive medical outreach and hamper distribution. There, he chatted with several individuals on the importance of health, among other social issues. “It was a wonderful experience,” he reminisced.

Over at Buxton, on the East Coast of Demerara, several senior citizens were feted with an early Christmas treat. Mayor Narine also attended the social occasion where he distributed hampers to the elderly folks and extended season greetings on behalf of his family and the municipality.

“All of this in one day and I can still go on. The nation needs people with this energy and good governing skills to continue the progress and development that this beautiful land of Guyana is currently experiencing…. the message I want to leave is to always be our brothers’ keeper and always try to reach out to people….” Mayor Narine posited.
