Millions invested in Bartica’s development

Last Friday, Barticians observed Guyana’s 49th Republic Anniversary in grand style, with the flag raising ceremony, an occasion to recap the great strides the mining town has taken in recent years.
Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan took the opportunity to interact with residents and highlighted his satisfaction at Bartica’s well-kept landscape and also mentioned a few developments slated for the town.
“Bartica will remain clean and pristine. Under this government, we will remain committed to improving every region and Bartica will see a lot more improvement under the present administration,” the Minister of Communities pledged.
Regional Chairman, Gordon Bradford said Barticians are talented and hardworking and remain committed to working together to improve their town. He noted that before 2020 Bartica will see major developments in every sector.
“We also know that space is something we don’t have at the Regional Administration Office and I wish to announce to you that we have received funds in the 2019 Budget to do consultancy and feasibility for the re-siting of the Regional Administration Office.”
Bradford further stated that four new schools have been constructed in the region and are now waiting to be commissioned.
Other infrastructure developments include the $600M construction of a new Transport and Harbor Stelling which will consist of a floating ramp, mini mall and craft centre among other modern amenities. Further, the construction of Bartica’s first solar farm is slated to commence in March.
Also, solid waste disposal works are in the pipeline for a modern landfill site and the installation of an ICT Hub in schools.
