Min. Ally representing Guyana at 63rd Session on Status of Women Commission

Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally is currently heading Guyana’s delegation at the 63rd Session on the Commission on the Status of Women which is being held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Ministerial Advisor, Mrs. Alicia Jerome-Reece, Foreign Service Officer III, Mr. Shiraz Mohamed, and Minister Counsellor, Ms. Trishala Persaud, are part of the delegation representing Guyana.
The 63rd Session on the Commission on the Status of Women is being held under the theme ‘Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.’
Minister Ally is expected to present Guyana’s national statement on Wednesday March 13, 2019.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.
The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
