Min. Nandlall distributes over 200 food hampers to Annandale, neighbouring communities
-over 200 Christmas gifts for children
Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Mohabir Anil Nandlall on Sunday distributed over 200 food hampers to elderly citizens as part of efforts to thank them for their years of service to the nation.
The distribution exercise was held at Freedom House, Annandale, East Coast Demerara, and accommodated residents from several neighbouring communities.
Minister Nandlall said even with limited resources the Government will continue to support all Guyanese.
“Our older generation has served our country and villages well, and have led a good example for the younger persons…We must respect the achievements of our older folks, and this event is done as part of our expression of gratitude for your contributions to our country,” Minister Nandlall said.
The Attorney General also said that in the coming year, the Government will work towards distributing more items for the people.
Residents expressed satisfaction for the Government’s donation.
“Everything has been so cool and calm with this Government and they have so much to give to us. I am very happy about it,” Ms. Felemena Munilall said.
Lusignan resident, Ms. Premattie Persaud shared similar sentiments.
“We thank the [Government] very much for what they gave us for the holiday. It’s very nice of them, we are all thankful and God bless them,” she said.
Minister Nandlall also distributed toys to some 200 children. Food, drinks and confectionaries were also shared to the youthful and elderly residents.
Minister Nandlall advised everyone to follow the COVID-19 safety measures and wished them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy new year.
